In The Next Lifetime, We Will Meet Again
Tammy De Roca

The exhibition In The Next Lifetime, We Will Meet Again presents images that act as postcards to her late grandfather whose birthday incidentally falls on the same day of the show’s opening. The places depicted in these works reside in the artist’s mind and are places where she can reconnect with her loved ones. Continuing her series of landscapes and seascapes formed through textures; an experiment in art-making that challenges our perception of appearances.
Tammy De Roca (b.1995, Manila) is a visual artist whose works explore how textures build images through paintings, sculptures, and other forms. De Roca continues to study and experiment on how our perception of appearances and images are challenged or supported by what textures represent.
She completed her BFA at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. De Roca represented the city of Pasay for the Miss Earth Philippines Pageant in 2017. She cites Elaine Navas and Mark Rothko as recent influences and such is clear in her latest works especially in terms of texture and flow.
