Goodbye to All That

“We were born in a shell and breaking out of it to become our full form is a struggle that we all have to endure. Places aren't always tangible and visible. They can be that chapter in our lives that we once thought all that there is. That dark place that nurtured us now feels like a hindrance to our becoming.

Inevitably, we will all leave our shells and swim into the unknown. The question is, is it really freedom? Or just another bigger space to roam around until it no longer satisfies us. I hope we really find ourselves and not spend most of our lives exploring horizons and ending up in places of loneliness.

The world is abundant with beautiful people and places, but finding one's self is looking inward. The place you want to forget and abandon is the very place you need to fix and live in. The only true place we've got is within ourselves.”

August Lyle Espino studied Fine Arts and holds a Masters Degree in Entrepreneurship. His practice explores painting as a medium to transform images and produce stories through layers of scenarios from representational and abstract forms. His background as a filmmaker allows him to use similar techniques and plot devices in forming compositions that reveal unexpected stories and scenarios.
