Goodbye to All That

NOELLE VARELA / RAYMOND BRIONES

Noelle Varela and Raymond Briones, Vesseled Amp, 2020, copperwire, sawdust and acrylic emulsion sheet, 3.14 x 2.76 x 4.65 in (7.97 x 7.01 x 11.81 cm)

Vesseled Amp revolves around progress and how it must grow within its environment.  It considers and accepts the reality of the evolution of our surroundings. That, somehow, it remains to construct itself in a better and ideal direction of development; growth that nurtures progressive solutions, which may not happen in this lifetime but would contribute to the future of all life forms.

Noelle Varela (b. 1993) received her Bachelor in Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. She mainly works with three- dimensional sculptures and forms. Varela continuously constructs contemporary imagery using sawdust that hints at images of the female body while depicting the experiences of women (sexuality and societal status).

Raymond Briones (b. 1992) studied Fine Arts (Painting) at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. He is an interdisciplinary artist whose works extend from paintings to the dimensional computer graphics - had been working for the advertising industry. His imagery embodies visual commentary about mankind and or the social system through ironies and dry humor.
