ABOUT THE ARTIST
Victoria Yujuico Keet (b. 1988) explores how contemporary and historical visual culture shape how ideas are perceived. Her work focuses on the pictorial conventions culturally tied to representation. Canonistic formats—the nude, landscape, and portraiture—intermingle with images circulated en masse, such as news photographs and pornography. By attaching contemporary subject matter to art historical tradition, the artist illustrates not only how various modes of representation communicate the biases of their eras, but their continued influence on how we consume images. Yujuico Keet studied Fine Arts at Byam Shaw School at Central St. Martins and History of Art at University College London. She currently resides in Quezon City, Philippines.
