ABOUT THE ARTIST

Victoria (b. 1991) uses color, texture, and form in creating visually stimulating images drawn from memory while experimenting with spontaneity and chance. Her practice is influenced by analytical cubism and abstract expressionism, presenting scenes that use the palette of the old masters, which are then disrupted by unrehearsed textured strokes of bright paint as attempts to reclaim narratives from the past. Victoria studied at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and La Consolacion College, Manila. Her works were featured in a solo presentation for the ninth edition of Art Fair Philippines.

Drawn by the range and sublimity of landscape paintings found in the collection of museums and institutions, Victoria renders similar settings as she contemplates her past and reframes the picture.
