Issay Rodriguez (b. 1991) works in different art forms that release her practice from the the burden of loyalty to materiality and medium. Working with textile, printmaking, painting, and installation, the foundation of Rodriguez’s practice rests on research, collaborations, and events that take place in the conception of a project. Recently, the artist has been identifying comparisons of value through studying the life cycle of bees. Rodriguez received her BFA in Painting from the University of the Philippines, Diliman and was an exchange scholar at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France. Rodriguez was a finalist at the Ateneo Art Awards – Fernando Zóbel Prizes in Visual Arts (2018). Her works were presented at the Central Pavillion of the 57th Venice Biennale and in exhibitions in Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan, New Delhi, Dubai, and Paris. She was recently selected to complete an artist residency at Gasworks, London.

Untitled No. 57 and No. 58 (Screen detox drawings) are works the artist produced in an attempt to reduce exposure to computer screens and the virtual world while everyone is forced to increase their presece in the online realm due to new protocols with the pandemic.
