MONO8 is pleased to present Pepe Delfin’s first solo exhibition, ‘Heavy Lies the Head’. Delfin’s works in this presentation combine repetitive shapes and colors that portray movement and time passages. Here, the artist narrates through images of labyrinth-like scenes the predicament of conquering the unpredictability and uncertainty of the times.
Delfin leads us to the alleys, paths, and trails of our introspection in realizing the strength we carry while living these struggles. As she notes, “Perhaps, it may lead to self-discovery or finding kindred souls among ourselves while in solidarity and wary of the same nightmares. If we can survey and measure what we are up against, then, can we not conquer it?”
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Pepe Delfin (b. 1991 Capiz) lives and works in Manila, Philippines. Her works explore abstract forms through geometric shapes, squiggles, and lines. The careful placements of these elements produce visual narratives of Delfin's experiences, observations, and relationships with people. Her paintings, illustrations, and video installations include scenarios that depict solitude and the multitude of expressions through bright colors and forms. She received her degree in Fine Arts from Ateneo de Manila University.
