Group Exhibition: MARKERS
January 14 to February 12, 2020
Inspired by the location of the gallery inside a historic mansion built in 1901, Markers presents the works of Jomari T'leon, Lawrence Marcos, McCoy Lazaruz, and Nick Navarro. In this exhibition, the artists consider important locations and sites drawn from their personal memories and are then merged with the evolution of structures, places, and environments through time.
Jomari T'leon (b. 1998) received his BFA in Advertising from the Technological University of the Philippines. His works create a melancholic portrayal of people and places while integrating living figures and objects.
Lawrence Marcos (b. 1991) studied Fine Arts with a major in Painting at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. His works often show dark and grotesque themes as representations of the environment. He was a finalist in the 34th Metrobank Art & Design Excellence (MADE) competition and was also a finalist in the 49th Shell National Student Arts Competition.
McCoy Lazaruz received his BFA (Visual Communication) from Bulacan State University and has exhibited extensively in the country. Lazaruz received a grant from the TUKLAS Mentorship Program of Eskinita Gallery where young artists were mentored by established artists Alfredo Esquillo and Renato Habulan.
Nick Navarro (b. 1990) graduated from the University of the Philippines, Diliman with a BFA in Painting. His works present the artist’s affinity with interiors and illustrate the emptiness and absence of human presence within these empty spaces.
