ABOUT THE ARTIST

Frances Abrigo (b. 1991) started his practice working in silkscreen printing and graffiti in his hometown of Sorsogon. His works explore etching, carving, and engraving images. These marks often portray socio-political issues, emotional responses, and criticisms burrowed through layers of material waiting to be uncovered by one's critical eye.

Abrigo's Perceptual Sensitization presents works produced through pyrography, where heat/fire is carefully applied to construct images through burn marks. The repetitive aspect of such techniques echoes the urgency for a critical assessment of the times.
