ABOUT THE ARTISTS

JOMIKE TEJIDO (b. 1982) merges his background as an architect and as an illustrator in creating works that explore perception through materiality, forms, color, and medium. Tejido received his degree in Architecture from the University of Santo Tomas and was a finalist at the AAP Semi-annual Abstract Art Competition (2016); Maningning Miclat Painting Competition (2006); and Shell National Students Art Competition (Sculpture, 2002). His works have been exhibited extensively in art stages and institutions such as the UP Vargas Museum and the Cultural Center of the Philippines; and in exhibitions abroad, such as France, Japan, and the USA.

JULIEANNE NG's (b. 1994) practice explores the growing consumerist culture of our time as realized in the representation of objects shaping our everyday landscape and creating new spatial realities. Ng received her BFA in Painting (magna cum laude) from the University of the Philippines, Diliman and has been featured in several exhibitions in the Philippines.

Unified by the dominance of geometric abstraction in their artistic practices, Jomike Tejido and Julieanne Ng explore repetition, sequence, and the multiplicity of meaning attached to forms. Influenced by the different approaches in meditation through the presentation of patterns, the exhibition examines parts and fragments and their links to transition and constraint.
