ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Les Amacio explores static compositions, which create dynamic conceptual focal points in examining binary oppositions as themes in his works. Amacio studied Painting at Virtus Scientia University and Photography at the West Visayas State University. His works were presented at the 2012 edition of VIVA Excon Biennial. Amacio completed an artist residency with the Abu Dhabi Art Hub Residency Program in 2014 and was featured in exhibitions at institutions such as the National Museum of the Philippines, Yuchengco Museum, Ayala Museum, Museo Iloilo, Museo Negrense, and in presentations in Singapore, United Arab Emirates, and Italy.

Venus Mar Caparal investigates virtual space, social media, and its effect on our perception of time. Caparal received her BFA in Painting from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Her works are often surrounded by the artist's inclination to the concept of time management as an oxymoron.

Earl Lopez received his BFA in Advertising from the University of Santo Tomas. His works are drawn from memories of personal interactions with other individuals and one's self. Lopez transforms the human condition into barren landscapes and scenarios answering personal questions and reflecting on personal conflicts and mortality.

Dave Lock’s paintings contain painterly effacements to portraits or images depicting the human face, and what Lock deems as “the grand container of all truths." In his practice, the face becomes a paranoid phantom laden with multiple images and multiple layers. Filled with automatic drawings and expressionistic destruction, his paintings identify the artist's playfulness in misdirecting the viewer with heady explanations for his imagery as the philosophical and the existential falls from beauty, truth, and grace.

Expi Perez received his BFA from the University of Santo Tomas. His works illustrate cryptic and unresolved scenarios that require one's suspension of disbelief. His works explore themes informed by dreams, abuse, trauma, and observations that become psychological placeholders.

Israel Remo received his BFA in Visual Communication from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. His works reveal imagery that is disoriented from the experienced realities. Remo's paintings are like montages that are built from fragmented memories.

Dinno Zaide begins his works by drawing sketches in order to feel the connection between paper and canvas. His paintings highlight scenes that linger in the grotesque and macabre. Zaide was a finalist at the Shell National Students Art Competition from 2011 to 2014 and at the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) in 2011 and 2013.
