Cian Dayrit
Cian Dayrit's Shrine for the Battle Dance is an ensemble of markings, debris, and visions activated as a lexicon to plot the course of his artistic practice. In its entirety, the works point to gestures of orienting, exorcising, and healing.
Cian Dayrit (b. 1989) lives and works in Cainta, Philippines. He received his BFA from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. His practice revolves around challenging dominant perspectives of power and space through textile, painting, sculpture, and installation. Dayrit received the Ateneo Art Awards Fernando Zóbel Prizes for Visual Art in 2017 and is a Cultural Center of the Philippines Thirteen Artists Awards recipient. He completed artist residencies at Bellas Artes Projects in Bataan, Philippines; La Trobe Art Institute in Bendigo, Australia; and at Gasworks in London.
